Our studio operates under these three basic concepts: Learn, Test, and Teach. Each day, we strive to push our understanding of ourselves, the world around us, and our ability to have a profound impact on the moments that give us meaning.
Learn - This category is about keeping an open mind. We can always learn new things. Not just academic knowledge, but new ways to understand who we are as individuals and our relationship to the communities that we are a part of. Learning is an essential part of growth and requires effort and proactive self-analysis. The other two process help to augment the learning process.
Test - It's one thing to read about making something, but it's an entirely different challenge to execute something. Test is about taking ideas we have and putting them to use. We get to play and take responsibility for ideas as well as learn from our mistakes. It's also arguably the most fun process.
Teach - We believe in oversharing. Share resources, stories, how-to's, challenges, music, etc. In our studio, knowledge is not something sacred. We will happily share our discoveries with anyone and everyone. We're all about transparency, that's why everything is documented and shared. Teaching is also a way to reinforce knowledge and to help us get comfortable with talking about our ideas.
It is more important to DO than to discuss. Too often we search for the right idea before we begin. We must learn to trust the process and know that is it better to start with a clear direction and intent rather than a perfect outline.
We believe in an idea meritocracy. The best ideas should win. Good ideas can come from anyone, but the best ideas come when people participate together.
Never compromise your values. Be respectful and clear with what you're comfortable with.
Time is a limited non-renewable resource that we all have. Treat yours with respect and respect others' as well. Be mindful that your actions have consequences on the people around you.
This idea is taken from improvisational techniques. When solving problems, participate in others' ideas. See how you can take what they've begun and make suggestions on how we can make it work before starting a new idea.
